What is Geography?Geography can be likened to a three-legged stool: It is:
1. A rich body of content, on invasive species, climate, ecoregions, population, natural hazards, water, energy, politics, sustainable agriculture, in short--everything that is relevant to 21st Century life. 2. A set of skills and themes, including scale, working with data, understanding uncertainty, examining spatial patterns and trends, analyzing processes and forces that shape the physical and cultural environment. 3. A perspective, or way of looking at the world, that has, at its core, the perspective of choros, that is, place and location. The video I created on this page discusses more of what geography is ... and why it matters to education and to society.
